Activists to search for tuna boats with helicopter
A good article:
ABOARD THE STEVE IRWIN – Conservationists are sending up a
helicopter to search for tuna fishing boats in the Mediterranean
that might be harvesting the fish illegally.
Activists aboard the boat the Steve Irwin, owned by the
U.S.-based Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, have been searching
the waters under the Libyan no-fly zone, but are now heading out so
the helicopter can search.
The chopper, which is housed in a hangar aboard the boat, will
take off around 11:00 a.m. local time (0900GMT) Sunday. A smaller,
faster sister ship, the Brigitte Bardot, is also scouting for
illegal fishermen.
The stock of bluefin tuna is being rapidly depleted. The
activists want to cut the nets of boats they believe are fishing
illegally, freeing the fish.
