Bardot gave up her acting career in 1974 to work on things that were closer to her heart and she was the first celebrity to speak out against the slaughter of seals in Canada. In 1986, Bardot established the Brigitte Bardot Foundation for the Welfare and Protection of Animals to address issues such as fur, horse slaughter, and companion animal overpopulation. True to her convictions, Bardot said she got the best birthday present ever on her 73rd birthday when she heard the news that France was going to refuse the import of all products derived from seals. I hope she gets something equally wonderful today! In her honor, Babycakes NYC baked Ms. Bardot a beautiful vegan birthday cake so local folks in Los Angeles can celebrate! Oh YUM! I gave my beauty and youth to men. Now I am giving my wisdom and experience ~ the best of me ~ to animals. Brigitte Bardot Happy Birthday Brigitte!
